Languages
In the Languages Department, students will develop knowledge of a language and gain skills to use that language confidently, with the aim of becoming a culturally-aware global citizen. With this in mind, at County students embark on the following journey through Languages:
Year 7: students study 4 hours of French a fortnight.
Year 8: students continue having 4 hours of French a fortnight, as well as 4 hours of their second-language choice – Spanish, Latin or German.
Year 9: students continue to learn two languages, with 3 hours for each a fortnight.
Studying a language for Ò»·ÖÁùºÏ²ÊE at County is compulsory, with 5 hours a fortnight. We see this as an opportunity to capitalise on the foundation laid in Lower School, equipping every student with important language skills for wherever the future takes them.
